John Dramani Mahama
Former President John Dramani Mahama is making tantalising promises to National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates ahead of the party’s presidential primary on May 13, 2023.
Mr. Mahama, who picked nomination forms to run for the NDC flagbearership on February 22, has told some party branch executives that he will support and finance the party’s activities and actively prepare grounds for a successful 2024 campaign.
On the second day of his tour of the Bono Region, the ex-president also charged the constituency and regional executives with commitment to run an effective branch-level campaign.
He also wants them to make campaign materials and logistics that have been dispatched for the work available to the branches.
The campaign tour took him to the Dormaa West, Dormaa Central, Dormaa East, Sunyani West and Sunyani East constituencies.
Mr. Mahama met with branch and constituency executives, as well as chiefs and party supporters, in Wenchi, Tain, Banda, Jaman North and South, Berekum West and Berekum East on his first day.
In his address to the delegates, the former president thanked the party and its executives for their support and endorsement, but urged them to convert that support into massive votes for him in the presidential primary on May 13, 2023.
The party’s internal elections will be held in constituencies across the country to select the NDC presidential and parliamentary candidates for the 2024 general election.
