The summer heatwave is expected to cool as rain will sweep the country starting this Saturday, an expert has confirmed. Scorching temperatures will give way to nationwide showers and a 10C drop as Atlantic winds roll over the UK.
Wales and western Scotland, as well as the northwest, Midlands and southwest of England, are the hot spots of the UK today, with the mercury set to reach highs of between 27C and 29C – which will be hotter than Ibiza (27C).
But Jim Dale, Founder and Senior Meteorological Consultant at British Weather Services, told Express.co.uk that the searing heat was all about to change.
He said: “We’ve got another three or four days now. Saturday is likely the last day.”
Northern Ireland will be the first to be hit by the showers, the weather expert predicted.

He added: “We’ve just had a showery period through hot weather, but it retained its heat. Instead, this one will knock the heat on the head.
“It’ll still be warm and humid, but the rain is coming. It’ll start on Saturday and it won’t go anywhere for a week.
