Popular Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has announced plans to campaign for opposition NDC candidate John Dumelo in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency ahead of the 2024 parliamentary elections.
He cited disappointment with the incumbent MP Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the governing NPP.
Speaking on the “GH Today” show on GHOne TV, Osei – who is known to be a supporter of the NPP – said he feels Lydia Alhassan has not done enough to address the concerns of constituents, especially those who actively supported her election in 2020.
“Personally, it will not be shocking if you see me on a platform campaigning for John to win the Ayawaso seat even though he’s NDC and I’m NPP. Because I feel like when people go all out for you, you don’t take them for granted. We stood on that platform, got a lot of insults because of Maa Lydia,” David Osei stated.
He added that despite reaching out to Lydia Alhassan’s office about challenges facing students in her constituency, his messages were ignored.
“At a point, I sent messages to her P.A that some of the Legon students are going through a lot I’ve been trying to support but you’re their MP so hear them out, they never replied and nothing happened,” the pro-NPP actor said.
“Personally, I feel she should have done more, especially the people that stood with you, so when we talk, you should listen but it looks like she lives in her own world so we have decided to stop,” he reiterated while answering a question of whether he is disappointed in the Ayawaso lawmaker.
