President John Dramani Mahama has pardoned the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, over the controversial dollar gift saga.
According to the President, no further disciplinary action will be taken against Sammy Gyamfi, following his gesture of gifting an undisclosed amount of U.S. dollars to evangelist Patricia Oduro, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, over the weekend.
Due to a series of criticisms from the public after the incident, Sammy Gyamfi took to his Facebook page to apologise for his actions.
The Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, conveying the President’s position on Mr. Gyamfi’s case at a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, May 14, indicated that President Mahama has accepted the apology from the Goldbod CEO.
While describing the incident as regrettable, he said no further action will be taken.
“The Ag CEO of Goldbod has been cautioned, with no further action expected to be meted out to him,” he told reporters.
He also issued a firm warning to Mr. Gyamfi and all public appointees to strictly adhere to the Code of Conduct and act at all times in a manner that upholds public confidence.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu reiterated the President’s commitment to accountability and ethical governance, but noted that the current situation did not warrant Gyamfi’s removal.
“The President has made it clear that while forgiveness has been extended in this instance, any recurrence of such behavior will not be tolerated,” he added.
