Jannik Sinner delivered a masterclass in resilience and precision to defeat Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 and win his first Wimbledon title, becoming the first Italian man to lift the singles crown at SW19.
The top seed bounced back from a heartbreaking loss to Alcaraz in last month’s French Open final with a composed and clinical performance, sealing victory in three hours and six minutes.

Sinner hit 40 winners and eight aces, matching those with 40 unforced errors in a gutsy display of attacking tennis.
Alcaraz started strong, recovering an early break to take the first set with a dazzling cross-court winner. But Sinner quickly reset, breaking early in the second and holding firm to level the match with a 6-4 set win.Carlos Alcaraz of Spain celebrates a point against Jannik Sinner of Italy (Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images)
From there, the momentum shifted. Sinner’s consistency and aggressive return game kept Alcaraz under pressure. A crucial break in the ninth game of the third set tilted the contest in the Italian’s favour.
In the fourth, Sinner pounced again, capitalizing on Alcaraz’s dip in form. The Spaniard saved two match points with sublime net play and had break chances of his own, but Sinner’s nerve held firm.Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and Jannik Sinner of Italy meet at the net (Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images)
He converted his second match point to close out a memorable win and cap a historic run on grass.
With the victory, Sinner not only earns his fourth career Grand Slam title but also avenges his Paris heartbreak; all while making history for Italy on tennis’s most iconic stage.
