
A 29-year-old man, identified only as Kofi, is battling for his life after he was allegedly stabbed by his wife during a domestic dispute over a meal at Maamaso, near New Abirem in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region.
The incident occurred on Monday, October 20, 2025, when an argument broke out between Kofi and his 21-year-old wife, Maafua, over a change in their planned dinner.
According to adomonline.com report on October 21, 2025, Kofi had given his wife money to prepare banku with okro stew, however, Maafua opted to cook light soup instead, explaining that the money provided was not enough for okro stew and that she had saved part of it for later.

“The money was not enough for okro stew, and I saved part to be used later,” the report said.
Maafua said her husband became angry after realising the meal had been changed, leading to a heated confrontation.
The situation escalated into a scuffle, during which Kofi allegedly picked up a knife.
Maafua reportedly overpowered him, seized the weapon, and stabbed him.
An eyewitness, identified as Atta Mallam, said that Maafua appeared to have acted intentionally.
Kofi’s brother, Francis, who was in another room, said he rushed in upon hearing the noise and went to the scene to find his brother bleeding profusely.

The victim was first taken to the New Abirem Government Hospital but was later referred to the Koforidua Government Hospital for further medical attention.
Police in the area have commenced investigations into the matter.
