The Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, acting on the advice of the National Security Council, has imposed a curfew on Nalerigu Township and surrounding communities in the North East Region.
The curfew, which has been introduced through an Executive Instrument, takes effect from Thursday, December 18, 2025, and will be enforced daily from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
In a statement, the government called on chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to remain calm and resolve their concerns through peaceful and lawful means, stressing the importance of maintaining peace and order.
As part of the security measures, Nalerigu residents are prohibited from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons.
Anyone found with such items will be arrested and prosecuted.
The government has also placed restrictions on the movement of motorbikes, the wearing of smocks, the sale of fuel in containers, and all unlawful gatherings.
Authorities have urged residents to fully cooperate with the directives to help ensure safety and stability in the area throughout the curfew period.
