Former Ghana Ambassador to the Netherlands, Dr Tony Aidoo, has expressed concerns about the suitability of Kennedy Agyapong to become President of Ghana.

Agyapong is one of five candidates contesting the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary scheduled for tomorrow, which will determine the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 election.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Friday, January 30, 2026, Dr Aidoo argued that Kennedy Agyapong lacks the temperament and decency expected of a presidential candidate, suggesting that he should consider withdrawing from the race.

“So far, among the candidates, personally, I think Kennedy Agyapong should opt out,” Dr Aidoo said.

He added that Agyapong’s documented use of intemperate language, as well as his public feuds with pastors and women, have raised questions about his suitability to lead both the NPP and the country.

The other contestants in the primary include former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, MP and former Minister of Agriculture Dr Bryan Acheampong, MP, former Minister of Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong.
