All is set for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary on Saturday, January 31, 2026, to elect the party’s flagbearer, who would lead it into the 2028 general election.
The five men contesting the race — former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central legislator Kennedy Agyapong, former Minister of Food and Agriculture Dr Bryan Acheampong, former Minister of Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, and former NPP General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong — will be hoping that the over 200,000 NPP delegates will make them the party’s flagbearer.
However, these men and their supporters are not the only people who have something to lose at the end of voting on Saturday. In fact, there are some people, including pollsters and prophets, who have placed their careers and integrity on the line by making bold predictions about the outcome of the primaries.
These prophets and pollsters might, at the end of the day, be bleeding more than the bereaved, and they include:
Prophet Bernard ElBernard Nelson-Eshun:
The General Overseer of Spiritlife Revival Ministries, Prophet Bernard ElBernard Nelson-Eshun, who is known for accurately predicting a number of events in Ghana, including the 2024 election victory of President John Dramani Mahama and even his number eight ballot paper position, is one of the prophets who has put his credibility on the line.
Prophet ElBernard Nelson-Eshun, who seems to be on a ‘one-man commando’ mission, has consistently prophesied that Kennedy Agyapong will win the NPP primary.
According to him, God has revealed to him on eight different occasions that Ken Agyapong will emerge victorious after the primary.
He has even written a book about the revelations he received regarding the former Assin Central legislator’s victory.
Prophet Nigel Gaisie:
The founder and leader of the Prophetic Hill Chapel, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, who is also known for his accurate prophecies, has also put his credibility on the line, prophesying in favour of former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The prophet has consistently predicted that Bawumia will win the NPP primary, adding that Kennedy Agyapong has no chance.
He intimated that even though Ken was originally the person to win the primaries, the “prayers” and “lamentations” of some men of God have led to Bawumia snatching the victory.
Mussa Dankwah:
Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, Mussa Dankwah, who has himself stated that he is putting his career and credibility on the line, has consistently predicted that former Vice President Bawumia is going to win the NPP primary.
According to him, he and his team at Global Info Analytics have worked diligently and gathered sufficient data to support their prediction that Dr Bawumia will win the primary, hence his confidence despite the risks involved.
“There was no election more difficult for me than Akwatia because we only had two polling cycles there. We have tracked this poll for a solid five months, and the trend is clear and does not lie.
“I have heard people talk about NPP trends, but those trends are outdated, and relying on them is the reason many people got the last election wrong. We have spoken to people randomly, and we understand the voice of the people. I know the consequences for my organisation, but there is nothing I can do,” he said in a recent interview on Accra-based Asempa FM.
Dr Evans Duah:
Independent researcher Dr Evans Duah is one of the few people whose polls have predicted a victory for Kennedy Agyapong.
His latest study showed that the final best-case scenario allocates Agyapong at 52.59%, Bawumia at 36.24%, Acheampong at 8.60%, Adutwum at 2.05%, and Kwabena Agyapong at 0.52%.
It showed that Agyapong’s lead stems from broad gains in regions such as the Eastern, Central, and Western regions, bolstered by his focus on jobs and post-election recovery. In contrast, Bawumia’s support has waned outside the North, reflecting delegates’ emphasis on national electability.
Dr Duah described the contest as evolving from “fluid reassessment to structured consolidation”.
Dr George Domfe:
Studies by Dr George Domfe’s Africa Policy Lens (APL) have consistently predicted a victory for former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the NPP primaries.
The latest poll by APL tipped former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for an emphatic first-round victory.
In its final survey released on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Dr Bawumia was projected to win the race with 67%, followed by Kennedy Agyapong with 25.10%.
Following in third place were Dr Bryan Acheampong at 5.20%, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum at 0.10%, and Kwabena Agyapong at 0.30%.
According to the APL survey, 0.29% of delegates said they would not be voting, while 8% were still undecided.
Prophet Eric Boahen Uche:
A spiritual protégé of Prophet Owusu Bempah and renowned seer, Prophet Eric Boahen, popularly referred to in prophetic circles as Uche, also declared that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will emerge victorious in the New Patriotic Party‘s presidential flagbearership election.
The prophecy was delivered during Prophet Eric Boahen’s all-night service, which ushered members of his congregation into the new year, 2026.
According to him, it is puzzling that some prophets continue to mention other contestants as potential winners, questioning the source of such revelations.
He maintained that the outcome of the contest has already been divinely settled, stressing that Dr Bawumia is already “on the seat” and that no prophecy or human intervention can change what God has ordained.
