Two of the victims involved in the Ejisu accident that happened on Monday, January 12, have been transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for plastic surgery after they were stabilised at the Living Waters Hospital in Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.
Out of the remaining 28 victims, 12 have been discharged, while the rest, including two who sustained head injuries, are still on admission and responding to treatment.
Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, January 13, the Medical Director of the Living Waters Hospital, Dr Gabriel Sekyi Kwofie, said the family of the deceased is yet to be identified, as no form of identification was found on him.
He appealed to the public to visit the facility for identification if a family member believed to be in his 70s has not returned home since yesterday.
“All 30 are recovering. We had two who needed plastic surgical intervention, one with severe damage to the nasal septum, and the other required orthopaedic intervention because a tendon had been destroyed. They have been transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, but before the transfer, they were stable and out of any imminent danger of death, which we were all afraid of,” Dr Kwofie said.
Dr Kwofie also expressed concern about the frequent accidents recorded around the same location and urged authorities to take urgent action by installing traffic lights or constructing speed ramps in the area.
The accident, which occurred on Monday, January 12, 2026, involved a Ford vehicle with registration number AW 3264-21 and a Toyota Hiace with registration number AS 3552-20.
Eyewitnesses say the Toyota Hiace, travelling towards Kumasi, lost control at top speed and crashed into the Ford vehicle, which was heading from Kumasi towards Ejisu, leaving one person dead and 30 others injured.
