Ten suspected land guards have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly providing security during a planned chief installation at Adamrobe in Aburi in the Eastern Region.

The suspects are currently in police custody in Akuapem South, assisting with investigations.

According to police, a joint security operation led to the retrieval of pump-action rifles, ammunition, a taser and the impounding of two vehicles.

Police say the suspects, who were dressed in Ghana Immigration Service camouflage uniforms, are not officers of the service and are believed to be linked to attacks on farmers and landowners in the area.

The suspects were paraded in their uniforms for identification and interrogation.

When asked who provided them with the uniforms, one of the suspects confessed, “Our boss gave them to us, Hon Mustapha.”

The suspects have been identified as, Dawu Joseph, 33, farmer, Evans Dakavo, 34, security man, Kwame Aboagye, 34, vulcanizer, Christian Atsu, 38, security officer, Samuel Annan, 29, security man, Thomas Davidson, 34, security man, Abusapanyin Owusu Paul, 56, farmer, Richard Agyemang, 30, Jerry John Kwame and Samuel Kwame.

Police say investigations are ongoing.
