Investigative journalist and anti-galamsey campaigner Erastus Asare Donkor has reacted to the replacement of the Commander of the National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS), Col. Buah.
According to him, sources within the Ghana Armed Forces say the change is part of a routine rotation.
Erastus described Col. Buah as a committed and principled officer who played an important role in the fight against illegal mining.
“Col. Buah has been very instrumental in the fight until now,” he said.
He added that the outgoing commander often resisted pressure from different interests and insisted on doing what he believed was right.
“In many instances, he stood his ground against many interests and insisted that the right thing must be done,” Erastus stated.
While expressing hope for continuity, he said he expects the new commander to continue the anti-galamsey fight strongly.
“It is my hope that his replacement will continue and even exceed expectations in the fight against this cancer,” he added.
