Dr Paa Kwesi Baidoo nominated as KATH CEO
A letter dated April 30, 2025, signed by Dr Callistus Mahama, the Secretary to the President and addressed to the Minister of Health, directed the minister to ensure that steps were taken to regularise the appointment in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996 (Act 525) as amended.
Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah, who was CEO of KATH, was relieved of his position last week.
His dismissal followed a meeting with the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh. The minister showed profound appreciation to Prof. Addai-Mensah for his service and dedication to improving the hospital.
Prof Addai-Mensah, who assumed the role in 2022, led several major initiatives.
One of the most notable was the “Heal Komfo Anokye Project,” aimed at modernising the hospital.
Under his leadership, the number of dialysis machines increased from two to more than twenty, and a new pharmaceutical block was constructed.
