Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema Central Constituency have locked up the local offices of the National Health Insurance Scheme NHIS in protest against what they describe as unfair and exclusionary appointment practices.

The action, which took place in the Greater Accra Region, follows growing frustration among constituency executives over recent appointments to the NHIS and other public institutions.

According to the party leadership in Tema Central, several loyal and qualified party members were allegedly overlooked without consultation, despite their long-standing contributions to the party.

Leading the protest, Constituency Chairman Benjamin Ims Djakumah said the decision to lock up the office was not taken lightly.

He explained that grassroots executives who worked tirelessly during election campaigns now feel sidelined at a time when appointments are being made.

He described the situation as a recurring pattern that continues to demoralise party faithful at the constituency level.

He warned that continued neglect of grassroots leaders could weaken the party’s structures ahead of future elections.

Constituency Organiser Abdul Razak Mohammed Mutakwil also backed the protest, stressing that the hard work and sacrifices of party supporters must be recognised.

The executives have called on national and regional party leaders to intervene and address their concerns, urging a more inclusive and transparent approach to appointments in Tema Central.
