The Creative Arts Agency has condemned the reported assault on renowned Ghanaian visual artist Ibrahim Mahama in Tamale, describing the incident as a serious breach of human rights and artistic freedom.

In a statement issued on Monday, March 23, the Agency said it was “deeply disturbed” by claims that Mahama was attacked by personnel from the Ghana Police Service, stressing that no individual should face brutality or abuse from law enforcement.
The Agency highlighted Mahama’s global recognition and his contribution to promoting Ghana’s cultural identity, warning that such alleged actions could damage public trust and create an unsafe environment for creative expression.
It has therefore urged the police to carry out a full and transparent investigation into the incident and ensure any officers found responsible are held accountable under the law.
The Agency also expressed support for Mahama and the wider creative community, while appealing for calm and encouraging all parties to seek justice through lawful means.
