The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, the principal suspect in the killing of two persons at NTHC Estate in Sakumono, following a search after he went into hiding.
The Police announced the arrest in a post on X on Sunday, November 1, 2026, indicating that Christopher was apprehended at his hideout.
“The key suspect in the Sakumono murder case, Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, who was on the run, has been arrested from his hideout. Full details will be communicated,” the Police stated.
His arrest follows the earlier apprehension of 47-year-old Beatrice Mumuni, who is suspected of leading Christopher to the victims’ residence before the incident.
The victims, identified as 57-year-old George Atubiga and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atubiga, were allegedly shot dead at their residence on Friday, October 30, 2026.
Preliminary police investigations suggest the killings may have stemmed from a financial dispute involving George Atubiga, who allegedly owed Christopher GH¢500,000.
According to investigators, Christopher visited the victims’ residence on the morning of the incident, accompanied by Mumuni, to demand repayment of the alleged debt.
A confrontation reportedly ensued, during which Christopher allegedly shot and killed George Atubiga and his niece.
The victims were subsequently rushed to a hospital but were pronounced dead by a medical officer.
Their bodies were later deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Christopher’s arrest brings the two principal suspects in the case into police custody as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the killings.
